40 days difference between the tenure of both the states

He said that elections in one state would not affect elections in another as there is a gap of 40 days between the expiry dates of the assemblies of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. Asked whether the counting of votes in Gujarat will also take place on December 8, Kumar said, “We will tell you about it when we come here in Gujarat.”

The term of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is ending on 8 January 2023. Whereas the term of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is till 18 February 2023. However, it is believed that it is also possible to hold Gujarat elections in the period of November-December itself, so that the counting of votes can be done along with Himachal Pradesh like 2017.
